What is a brow lift?

Hi everyone! I’ve been noticing my forehead and brow area looking a bit tired and saggy lately, and it’s starting to make me look more stressed or angry than I feel. I’ve heard about brow lifts but don’t really know what they involve or if they’re worth considering. Has anyone here had one or knows much about the procedure? I’d love to hear about your experiences or any advice before I dive into more research. Thanks so much!

Hi @seekingmom! I totally get that feeling – it’s frustrating when your expression doesn’t match how you feel inside.

In a nutshell, a brow lift does what the name implies: it elevates the brows and smooths the forehead to create a more refreshed and awake appearance. For many people, it helps reduce that heavy or angry look. There are a few different techniques, from endoscopic with small incisions to more traditional methods, so the procedure can vary.

My biggest piece of advice is to do your homework and find a great surgeon. A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has tons of experience with facial procedures is the absolute best way to understand if it’s the right option for you. Good luck with your research

i feel the same way about my brow area lately

had mine done last year and honestly it made such a difference, felt like I looked less tired right away but recovery was a bit longer than I expected

I was so worried about looking permanently surprised but it actually turned out really natural. The weirdest part for me was the scalp numbness that lingers for a while.

One thing I found helpful was asking about the type of sutures used during the procedure. Some surgeons use dissolvable stitches that don’t require removal, which made recovery a bit easier for me since I didn’t have to go back in just to get stitches taken out. It’s a small detail but worth clarifying because it can affect your post-op care routine.

My aunt had a forehead procedure done in the nineties and she always said that expensive eye creams are really just a waste of money anyway. You should probably just drink more water because that helps my skin look way better.

I’ve been reading a lot about brow lifts and the techniques involved, and one detail that stood out to me is the potential for a less invasive option called a “temporal brow lift.” This approach involves smaller incisions at the temples, which might offer a more subtle lift without the longer recovery associated with traditional methods. If you’re feeling apprehensive, it might be worth asking your surgeon about this option during your consultation, especially since it could minimize downtime and still give you a refreshed look.

Scalp numbness was surprising but not too bothersome.

I think a brow lift is pretty straightforward and as long as you pick a good doctor, you’ll be fine, I mean I’ve heard good things about them helping with how tired you look even if it’s not a huge change. I personally think it’s worth considering if you care about looking more awake, but honestly I’ve just been doing Botox on my forehead and that’s enough for me.
