Has anyone had blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) done? I’m trying to understand what the recovery is really like. The online articles seem to vary so much.
I had my blepharoplasty done about a year ago here in Reno, and I remember feeling the same way—online info was all over the place. For me, the first few days were definitely the toughest. My eyes were swollen and bruised, which made me want to stay home and keep my head elevated as much as possible. Ice packs helped a lot with the swelling. Around day 5 or 6, the bruising started to fade and I was able to go out without feeling too self-conscious.
The one thing that surprised me was how sensitive my eyes felt for a few weeks afterward. Things like wind, bright light, or even staring at screens for too long could make them dry or irritated. It wasn’t painful, just uncomfortable at times. My surgeon had been super clear about what to expect and how to take care of them, which really helped me feel prepared.
If you’re thinking about it, I’d say plan for at least a week off to recover comfortably, and be patient with the healing process. It’s not instant, but the results made it totally worth it for me.
