How long does it take to recover from rhinoplasty?

Hey everyone! I’m considering getting a rhinoplasty and wanted to know more about the recovery process. I’ve read that it can take several weeks to feel back to normal, but I’d love to hear about your personal experiences. How long did it take for you to feel comfortable going out in public again? Any tips on managing the downtime or what to expect during the healing process would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hey @fillerready, I’m early in my own research too, but from what I’ve gathered, most people start feeling comfortable going out in public around 2-3 weeks after rhinoplasty. Swelling and bruising usually improve a lot by then, though subtle swelling can last for months. Managing downtime with good rest, ice packs, and following your surgeon’s care instructions seems key. Also, choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon is really important to ensure the best results and support during recovery. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

i lived in my travel pillow for the first week to stay propped up. it really helps with that weird pressure feeling in your face

i stayed home for two weeks then slowly eased back out.

I felt pretty good about going out after about three weeks, but I still had some lingering swelling. I found that using a saline nasal spray helped a lot with the dryness and discomfort. Also, I was super careful about sun exposure for a while to avoid any issues with healing

I found that keeping my head elevated even when sleeping helped speed up the reduction of swelling much more than I expected. Also, staying hydrated made a big difference in how I felt during those first two weeks.

Same here, hydration really helped me.

i remember the swelling lasting longer than I expected

I can’t speak from personal experience with rhinoplasty, but from my experience with skin treatments, patience and hydration really help with swelling and overall comfort. I always emphasize the importance of plenty of rest and staying hydrated
