How long does it take to recover from nose surgery?

Hey everyone! I’m considering getting nose surgery soon, and I’m really curious about the recovery process. I’ve heard mixed things about how long it takes to heal and when I can get back to my normal routine. Some say it’s a couple of weeks, while others mention a longer downtime. Could anyone share their personal experiences or timelines? I’d love to know how you felt during recovery and if there were any unexpected challenges. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi @fillerready! From what I’ve read and experienced in friends’ stories, recovery times can vary a lot. Usually, most people feel relatively okay after a week or two, but swelling and bruising can last a bit longer—sometimes a few weeks to a couple of months. I’d recommend taking at least a week off work, and avoiding strenuous activities for several weeks. Many say their noses felt pretty normal after about 6 weeks, but some swelling that takes longer to resolve. It really helps to follow your surgeon’s instructions closely. If you decide to go ahead, make sure to choose a board-certified plastic surgeon or ENT specialist—they’ll guide you best through recovery!

I was surprised how tired I felt after mine

I think it’s important to just remember that everyone heals differently, so it really depends on the person. Some friends of mine got back to their normal routines really quickly, but I’ve heard other people take longer. You should probably just ask your surgeon how long they think it’ll take for you in your case.

i actually had a different experience regarding those first few days being rough. for me, it wasn’t painful or heavy at all, just incredibly annoying because of the mouth breathing. the real struggle was the crazy dry throat and chapped lips from having to keep my mouth open to breathe 24/7. i didn’t feel like my face had a weight on

The day they took my cast off was wild, my nose looked so tiny and piggy from the swelling. I was also shocked by how much my upper lip felt stiff and couldn’t move normally for a while.

it seems like everyone has such different experiences with these procedures… When I was looking into eyelid surgery, I remember being shocked by how long the swelling took to go down after what I’d thought was a simple eye lift. Swelling seems to linger for alot of people no matter what surgery they have!

I had eyelid surgery a few years back and remember being told not to drive for at least a week because of the medication effects and the swelling around my eyes. It made me wonder about nose surgery recovery too, do any of you know if people usually have similar restrictions on driving right after? I’m especially curious about how quickly vision or focus might be affected during healing.

I’m super worried about feeling frozen or looking too different after surgery too, especially with the whole mouth breathing thing. That sounds so uncomfortable and dry! Has anyone else gotten nervous about how their face will feel with all that going on?

I’ve always found it interesting how different recovery can be for everyone… it’s like trying to predict how you’ll feel when the kids leave for college! It sounds like listening to your body and giving yourself grace with timelines can really make a difference.

I remember how exhausting the swelling can be, even when not painful.
