How long did it take you to stop losing on a GLP-1?

I’ve been on semaglutide for a few months now and I’ve lost about 20 pounds, which I’m really happy with. But lately, the weight loss has kind of slowed down or stopped altogether, and I’m wondering how long it usually takes for that to happen. Did anyone notice a plateau after a certain point and then start losing again? Would love to hear your experiences and any tips!

I noticed my weight loss really slowed down around month eight on a GLP-1, right after losing about 50 pounds. It wasn’t a total stop, just more gradual after that. That’s when I started seriously looking into scheduling my tummy tuck because the loose skin was more noticeable and I wanted to get ahead of it.

I’ve been on a GLP-1 like Ozempic for about nine months now and found that weight loss slowed significantly after around six months. In the beginning, I was losing about 2 to 3 pounds a week, which was encouraging. But by the five or six month mark, it naturally tapered down to just a pound or so every couple of weeks. I think that’s pretty common; the body tends to adapt after a while.

What I’ve been wondering is if other people experienced a complete plateau or if they saw small fluctuations even beyond the six-month mark. I’ve read that some folks get a bit of a rebound once they stop the medication, but I’m curious about those who stay on it longer term. Did you notice any changes in your appetite or cravings over time? I’m considering whether to keep going or try a different approach, but I want to be sure not to just wait it out forever without any change. Also, what has been your experience with doses? I started at 0.25 mg weekly and gradually increased to 1 mg, but I’ve heard some people stay at a lower dose longer without losing effectiveness.

I plateaued around three months in, so frustrating.

For me, the weight loss slowed significantly after about six months of consistent semaglutide. It’s like the body thought okay, we’re good now, time to stop sweating every pound. Even when I upped my activity and cut carbs, the scale barely moved after that point. It’s almost like the body reaches a new set point and refuses to budge much more, which is a little frustrating but also a relief in a way.

I haven’t tried GLP-1s but heard they can be quite the journey!
