Did anyone else lose a lot of weight and then hate their face?

I’ve lost around 35 pounds over the past six months using GLP-1 medication, and while I’m grateful for the weight loss, I find myself feeling unhappy with how my face looks now. It seems like my cheeks have dropped a bit, and I’m starting to see more wrinkles than before. Has anyone else experienced this after significant weight loss? How did you cope with the changes in your face?

totally. I dropped about 50 pounds after starting GLP-1 meds, and my face ended up looking gaunt and older than I feel. Now I’m obsessing over fillers and skin tightening just to get some of that softness back.

I’ve been there after losing weight, felt pretty self-conscious about my cheeks.

I totally get where you’re coming from. After losing about 50 pounds over eight months on GLP-1 meds, my face looked kind of hollow and saggy, like all the weight loss went straight from my cheeks and under my chin. I wasn’t prepared for how much my jawline and neck would look older, even though my body was finally feeling lighter and healthier. It’s frustrating because you want to celebrate the success but end up fixating on the new “problems.”

I started researching non-surgical options and landed on a combination of dermal fillers to restore some volume and Ultherapy to tighten up loose skin. The fillers cost me around $800 for the first session plus touch-ups, and Ultherapy ran about $1,200. It’s not cheap, but seeing that subtle lift and softer contours made me feel more like myself again. Have you looked into anything like that, or are you thinking about a surgical route like a mini face-lift? Also, curious if anyone’s tried radiofrequency treatments on the face after big weight loss? I’m debating whether it’s worth it before committing to anything more invasive.

I definitely relate to that feeling. After losing weight, my face looked deflated, and the extra skin was just so frustrating. I’ve been thinking about some minimally invasive options to help tighten things up, maybe some filler or skin treatments, but it’s a whole new journey figuring out what’s best for me now.

I can completely relate to feeling differently about your face after significant weight loss. A few years ago, after losing around 45 pounds, my face looked more tired and saggy to me, which was unexpected. I eventually decided on a facelift and some eyelid surgery. While these procedures certainly helped my confidence, it was important to have realistic expectations and understand the recovery process. In retrospect, I found it useful to schedule a few consultations with different surgeons to discuss what changes were achievable.
